What should you do if you damage an unattended vehicle?
Stop immediately. Find and notify the owner, or leave a written notice with your name and address in a visible place, and notify police if required.
When are crash reports required?
Always notify law enforcement if there is injury or death, vehicles cannot be moved, a driver leaves the scene, or you suspect intoxication. If police do not investigate and the crash did not cause injury, death, or $1,000 or more in property damage, you must file a written TxDOT report within 10 days.
